Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell was a television personality, a ex-chef at the Institute of Culinary Education and previously taught cooking. She is the host of her own Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and is co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, with her trademark spiky blond tresses and an energised persona on Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Cook series, shares straightforward and simple cooking techniques that are suitable for the home cook. Chef Burrell also has worked in the top New York eateries, learned about Italian cuisine and its traditions and has competed on Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a youngster, living in the the upstate area of New York, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. After earning an English and Communication diploma in Canisius College in Buffalo NY she pursued her passion for the business of restaurant by enroling at The Culinary Institute of America. The Culinary Institute of America has been a great adventure. I just couldn't get enough pleasure from the experience. After graduation, Burrell spent one year learning at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and working in the Umbrian restaurant La Taverna del Lupo as well as Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, which is a Michelin-starred establishment. Burrell gained a greater knowledge of Italian food and culture throughout her time in Italy and this has affected the way she cooks. Burrell is a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that brightens up the lives of kids who struggle. She also is an Juvenile diabetes Research Foundation's Celebrity Advocate, where she promotes awareness of young diabetics. She travels frequently around the United States in her position as a mentor as well as a guest speaker where she discusses her professional life and the joy of cooking. Anne was always grateful that she had the opportunity to share her love of her life, cooking with others.
