The moment Jim and Sasha Allen appeared on The Voice Live Shows, they created history as Sasha is the very first transgender person on the NBC contest show to make it past to the Battle Rounds in the entire 21 seasons of the show. The Newtown team, Jim and Sasha Allan, are now in the top 8 within the 21-year history of the Live Shows The Voice! Sasha declared that he's transgender as part of the Blind Auditions package. He told Parade.com that it was a long process before making the decision. Sasha changed his gender in high school, and stated that it was difficult to share such the vulnerable part of him before so many individuals. The support of the fans and the positive impact this can have on the people around, despite the fact that the choice was hard to make is what has convinced Sasha that this transition was worth it. "We performed it long before The Voice was even a reality show in our lives. After we got it, we were ecstatic. The song was one we already knew, it was a track we were already thinking of arrangements for. I was really surprised to see how well the fans struck the nail on their head."
